Surface Protection At Work
|Fish Quay, Bridlington|
|System:||Sika Decothane Gamma 20|
The fish quay is a concrete canopy housing several fish stores and offices. The existing waterproofing system had failed allowing the elements to affect the structural concrete and steel.
Due to the unique position of the structure, dropping off straight into the North Sea, a specialist scaffold design was required allowing access all the way down to the sea wall.
Once the system was stripped off down to the concrete deck level this exposed the extent of the concrete repair required. These were then completed prior to the waterproofing system being applied. This consisted of a Sika Liquid Plastics Quick Cure Primer, application of a Decothane Base Coat, strengthened then by inserting a Sika Reemat Premium glass fibre matting. The Decothane Top Coat is then applied and once dried an anti-slip walkway to the designated maintenance routes and fire escapes.
The completed system is backed up with a single point guarantee for 20 years covering both materials and workmanship.
